The spiral staircase: Architecture’s gift to photographers
For whatever reason, I’ve been obsessed with spiral staircases since I got into photography. The symmetry, the optical illusion, the elegant ways it plays with the eyes, all so inviting for camera lenses. Many of these staircase shots were obtained through scrupulous methods, including posing as a delivery boy to gain entrance to a Belgium Government office and sneaking into an M.I.T. building in boston as a student, amongst others. Who knew photography would require such stealth?
